Biography

Erminie Blondel, trained as a violist, studied at the Geneva Conservatory, graduated with a 1er Prix at the Rueil-Malmaison Conservatory, and holds a Masters Degree in Recital Arts from the Paris Sorbonne. She was a member of the CNIPAL Opera Studio in 2009-2010. The French-American Soprano now prepares her operatic roles with Cynthia Jacoby and Maryse Castets internationally acclaimed coaches Irène Kudela and Antoine Palloc.

En 2023-2024, Erminie Blondel sang Violetta in La Traviata at the Massy Opera under Robert Tuohy directed by Oriol Thomas, Konstanze in Die Entführung aus dem Serail in Reims and on tour, and the title role of The Merry Widow. In 2022-2023, she portrayed Silva in Czardasfürstin at the Budapest National Operetta Theatre, Agnès in Gounod's La Nonne Sanglante at the Saint-Etienne Opera, Violetta in La Traviata in Reims, Clermont-Ferrand and on tour, and made her debut at the Monte-Carlo Opera and Théâtre des Champs Elysées in Lakmé (Miss Ellen). In 2021-2022, Erminie Blondel performed Micaela in Carmen at the Reims Opera, directed by Paul-Emile Fourny, and made her role debut as Contessa Almaviva in Mozart's Nozze di Figaro at the Clermont-Ferrand Opera. She sang the title role of The Merry Widow in Avignon in 2020, performed at Musiques en Fête, the opening gala of the Chorégies d'Orange in 2019, 2021, and 2022, live broadcast on French television, and a gala with the Orchestre National de Lyon in Vichy in 2021. In 2019, she performed Ariane et Barbe-Bleue by Dukas (Bellangère) for her house debut at Théâtre du Capitole in Toulouse. She was Lisette Oropesa's cover in La Traviata (Violetta) at the Greek National Opera, a role she performed in 2012 at Teatro della Concordia in Torino and in Paris, London and Shanghaï in 2016. She sang La Voix Humaine in Beijing (2018) and in Clermont-Ferrand (2014), Marguerite in Faust (2018) and Micaela in Carmen (2017) at La Seine Musicale, Pamina in The Magic Flute in Clermont-Ferrand (2018), and at Naturbühne Gräfinthal (2016), Juliet in Benda's Romeo and Juliet in Clermont-Ferrand (2016), Antonia in Les Contes d'Hoffmann in Pisa, Lucca, Livorno, Novara under Guy Condette (2014), in 2012 Konstanze in Die Entführung aus dem Serail, the title role in Massenet's Manon...

 

Erminie Blondel also has a passion for Oratorio: among others she has performed Mozart Vesperae Solennes de Confessore, Exsultate Jubilate, Great Mass in c minor and Requiem, Beethoven’s 9th Symphony, Rossini Petite Messe Solennelle, Verdi Requiem

 

She has recently recorded an album of lieder by composers who were victims of the Nazi regime (Laks, Saguer, Ullmann, Kowalski and Ilse Weber), with pianist Thomas Tacquet : Jewish Destinies.
